I faced an issue where firefox does not restart after installing google page speed addon
Solution
> Go to terminal (In Mac go to Applications -> Utilities and select Terminal)
> Start firefox in safe mode by running the command
>/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode
>uninstall the page speed addon and restart firefox
